Recently we have seen the Jordan 16 get limited collab runs from both Solefly and The Trophy Room, now purists get their turn. On December 22nd we will get our first ever retro release of the Midnight Navy Jordan 16 colorway. The 16 model was extremely important to Jordan Brand, as MJ himself was retired by this point. The Jordan 15 sales and excitement were lackluster, and the brands future was very much in question.
Tinker Hatfield gave up the reigns to Wilson Smith to design the shoe. Smith added the first ever shroud on a Jordan, which is immediately identifiable. Luckily for Jordan brand the 16 sold well and helped to cement its status in the post Jordan player years.
As expected the price tag has jumped quite a bit since the OG release in 2001. Originally these retailed for $160, now expect to shell out an MSRP of $250.
Check out our exclusive pics snapped by Sneakers App and be prepared on December 22nd for the release.
