It’s the end of an era. After 20 years in the league, Kobe Bryant has announced his retirement from the NBA. For sneaker lovers, this is an unsettling announcement. The Kobe Bryant line of sneakers has a tremendous following, and always seems to be at the cutting edge of design and performance. The good news is that we are definitely going to see a Kobe XI just after the new year, and these pics make us very happy for that.

When early images started to surface many were worried, there was a lot of negativity around the overall design.  Now that we have had a much better look at the sneaker, at least my fears are laid to rest. The Nike Kobe XI Elite Low seems to be a natural progression of the Kobe X. The line continues with the popular Engineered Knit upper, which has proved to be an excellent palette for many interesting colorways.

For what will be Kobe Bryant’s last signature model to be worn on court by the man himself, these represent not only a fantastic looking performance basketball shoe, but also serve as a defining moment in the lineage of the entire line.

Take a look at our exclusive pics and let us know what you think. Does the Kobe XI end the legacy correctly in your opinion?

I grew up in Sacramento, CA and completely fell in love with shoes in 3rd grade when the Air Jordan 5 was released, from that point forward kicks were a major part of my life. My sneaker collection contains various types and brands, though Jordan retro's are the majority. These days I live in Chicago with my Wife and 3 kids I enjoy sharing my sneaker hobby with them.
